T h r e e j a n e s™ story: It was a girl’s weekend, there were six of us, our objective was not to get out of our pajamas; we almost succeeded!
Eleanor Mondale, daughter of vice president Walter Mondale & TV hostess for many shows including one of the original “E” Entertainment reporters, had been made up by many renown make-up artists as well as Leilani,, who is a professional make-up artist and Hollywood veteran. Eleanor asked the Leilani, “Do you love what you’re doing and do you see yourself doing it forever”?
The answer was “yes, I love what I do and although I could do it for the rest of my life, I also have another passion”. Her passion was to create and source tools and make-up. Where do they make it? What are the ingredients? How much does it cost and why is there such a drastic difference in perceived cost and actual value?
Why were some lines inconsistent in quality? Leilani expressed make-up tools, i.e. brushes, were a focus because without good quality tools, a professional looking outcome is unlikely, to this Eleanor strongly agreed.
Eleanor added her experiences and enthusiasm then asked, “Why aren’t you doing this”? Leilani’s response was she wanted a good business partner, the right partner, who shared the vision & responsibility of creating a superior product line.
The next morning Eleanor said she could not stop thinking about the conversation. Eleanor expounded on her own personal cosmetic and entrepreneurial experiences and asked even more questions. Eleanor ended the Q & A with “could you be looking at your business partner”. Leilani’s response was “I don’t know, could I”? “Let’s get together when we get back to Minneapolis…”
Eleanor has owned her own business before and had a lot of wisdom to share; the strengths were complimentary and the fit seemed right…
It was then that t h r e e j a n e s was conceived!
Coming up with a brand name is harder than it seems, even though we came up with this lifestyle line, branding a conceptual idea of an upstanding woman, Leilani personally had no idea how ironic and profound this name would be.
Eleanors middle name is j a n e and she bravely and courageously fought brain cancer for the past 5 ½ years. Eleanor epitomizes what a j a n e should represent….. courage, honor, integrity, loving, smart, resourceful, hard-working, innovative…. And the list goes on. She gives every j a n e something to strive for!
The third j a n e is the untainted upstanding girl in all of us!
We are all cape able of being this j a n e, but it is something we must choose to be; something we choose to strive for daily.
A j a n e is a lifestyle choice to be the best that we can be!
We are so grateful and excited to fulfill a dream, that started in cozy P.J.’s, on a couch!
